How about we have ourselves a little giveaway?
Some jersey-number-related trivia questions. First to get all five right wins five signed cards. If no one gets all five, then whoever gets the most right. You pick what sport(s) you want them from. My selection is largest in hockey, followed by baseball, basketball, football, soccer, and auto racing last. If you choose hockey or baseball, let me know your favorite team and I'll do my best to get you five from that team.
Anyways, the questions...
1. What was the last number to go unworn in the NHL, and who was the first player to finally wear it?
2. Seven jersey numbers have never been worn by any player in a regular season MLB game. Name them.
3. What is the lowest number never to be worn in an NBA game?
4. Who wore the only triple-digit jersey number in a professional hockey league in North America?
5. It's rare enough to see a major league pitcher wear ANY single digit number, but who was the last pitcher (not including position players pitching) to wear #1 in a regular season game?
Leave your answers as a comment. Contest is open through Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 10 pm Central Time. Answers you give will not be made public until then. I will post the answers and the winner sometime Sunday or Monday.
